I live with my partner, Doug, in the beautiful green hills of Maleny in south-east Queensland.
Doug is a fine craftsman. He makes and restores/repairs stringed instrument and has his own website:
I am an environmental scientist, luthier, musician, but in 2003 decided to follow my first love - writing.
My writer's hut
One day it occurred to me that it is probably not a good idea to spend 24 hours of each day within the same four walls.
So I asked my next-door neighbour, Robert (all-round fantastic person and builder of 'dwellings with character') to build me a hut among the trees. This is the wonderful space he created.

Not just a writer
Like many creative people, I am not 'just a writer'.
When I'm not in front of my computer (or notebook) I can be found in front of my spinning wheel, embroidering, knitting, doing tapestry, sewing, reading, gardening, bush walking, birdwatching, taking photos, playing my hammered dulcimer or English concertina, doing Sudoku and crosswords, even watching telly.
I still enjoy playing my Hammered Dulcimer and perform occasionally. A few years ago I recorded this album.
